AWAKENING TO DREAMS

Dreams are daily experiences we undergo when entering a state of altered consciousness we call sleep. The dream experience is an event. It is primary, always pure and uncorrupted, something that happens to us while sleeping. Simply to become aware of our dreams on a regular basis is to become aware of another universe. Moreover, as with waking experiences, the act of recalling dreams has the natural tendency to expand and enrich our lives.

Dreamwork – the practice of recalling dreams and integrating into awareness their residual impressions – has become almost a lost art in the industrialized world. There are two universes, one evidenced by the macrocosmic Newtonian model, and the other evidenced by the microcosmic unseen and unseeable quantum field of possibilities. Dreams intersect both universes. In a strange and fascinating way, dreams supplement and enhance waking life, as waking life provides the stuff from which dreams are made. There are ideas, feelings, images, intuitions, and insights from dreams that carry over into waking life. Dreams can tell us where we are, where we’ve been, and where we’re going. They can educate, entertain, and shock. They can provide warnings and help regulate health. Dreams can do all of these things, but only if we can remember them!

PARALLEL UNIVERSES reintroduces the concept that dreams are necessary for rounding out a complete human existence. It provides many ideas to help practitioners remember their dreams. It describes how almost all of us can improve self-awareness and enhance our lives, simply by recalling our dreams.

reviews

Parallel Universes is the best, most user friendly book I have read on how to not only understand dreams, but also interact with them!  As I was reading it the first time, it inspired me so much I couldn’t wait to go to sleep and try out my new found skills of “awakening to dreams.” I even had a “Dream Slumber Party” on my living room floor for my friends who read the book so we could wake up and talk about our dreams and analyze them together!  Recommending this book to my friends and clients was of course, a No Brainer as I feel everyone needs it! I feel this book is very liberating, as it helps you to really understand the other realities we are working in and how to manage them, so we can have more freedom in THIS reality!
